How to Clear Your Browser Cache - Most Common Internet Browsers

We have provided steps to clear the cache in the most common internet browsers:

Microsoft Internet Explorer 11

  1. Select the gear icon in the upper right corner of the browser window. This will open the "Internet Options" panel.
  2. The "General" tab should be open by default. In this tab, under the Browsing History heading, select Delete…. This will open a "Delete Browsing History" panel with a series of checkboxes.
  3. In the Delete Browsing History panel, check the Temporary Internet files and website files checkbox and uncheck all others.
  4. Select Delete. This will close the Delete Browsing History panel and will clear your cache.
  5. Close the Internet Options panel, if still open.

Microsoft Edge

  1. Select the  icon in the upper right corner of the browser window, then select Settings from the dropdown menu. This will open a Settings overlay on the right side of the screen.
  2. On the left side of the Settings overlay, select the Privacy & Security option with the lock icon. When clicked, the Settings panel will show privacy and security options.
  3. Under the "Clear browsing data" heading, select Choose what to clear. A checklist of options will appear.
  4. Check the Cached data and files checkbox and uncheck all other options.
  5. Select Clear. A short loading animation will occur, and your cache will be cleared.
  6. Close the Settings panel by clicking anywhere outside the panel.

Mozilla Firefox

  1. Select the ≡ icon, then select Options with the gear icon from the dropdown menu. This will open the Options panel in a new tab in your browser.
  2. On the left side of the screen, select the Privacy & Security option with the lock icon. When clicked, browser privacy settings will appear.
  3. Under the "Cookies and Site Data" heading, select Clear Data…. You may need to scroll down to find this option. A Clear Data panel will appear containing two checkboxes.
  4. Check the Cached Web Content checkbox and uncheck "Cookies and Site Data".
  5. Select Clear.
  6. A dialog will appear asking you to confirm your choice. To confirm, select Clear Now. This will clear your cache.
  7. Close Settings by closing the tab. You can also navigate to another tab or type in a new URL.

Google Chrome

  1. Select the  icon in the upper right corner of the browser window, then select Settings from the dropdown menu. This will open the Settings panel in a new tab in your browser.
  2. Select Clear browsing data under the "Privacy and Security" heading. You may need to scroll down to find this option. This will open a "Clear browsing data" dialog with a checklist.
  3. Check the Cached images and files checkbox and un-check all other options.
  4. Select Clear data. This will clear your cache and close the dialog.
  5. Close Settings by closing the tab. You can also navigate to another tab or type in a new URL.

Safari

  1. Select Safari in the upper left corner of your screen, then select Preferences from the dropdown menu.
  2. Select the Advanced tab in Preferences and select Show Develop menu in menu bar at the bottom. This should make a "Develop" option appear in the menu bar.
  3. Select Develop in the menu bar, then select Empty Caches from the dropdown menu. This will clear your cache.
  4. Close the Settings/Preferences window, if still open.
